The New Orleans Wine & Food Festival, May 22-26

Over the past 20 years the New Orleans Wine & Food Experience has raised more than $1 million for non-profit organizations right here in our community, while showcasing local food and chefs, and national and international wines.  We invite you to raise a glass and be a part of the festivities as we make New Orleans a better place to live, work and play. This year in an effort to fight hunger and support culinary education, the 2012 beneficiaries will share 100% of the proceeds. Second Harvest Food Bank of Greater New Orleans and Acadiana will receive 40% and the following will share the remaining 60%: the Louisiana Restaurant Association Education Foundation’s ProStart Program, Delgado Culinary Arts School, New Orleans Center for the Creative Arts’ Culinary Program, the John Folse Culinary Institute and the Edible Schoolyard New Orleans.

Greek Festival, May 25-27

Come out and enjoy our annual Hellenic party with a uniquely New Orleans flair!

Tireless volunteers have been hard at work preparing old favorites and new additions! There’s plenty of room for everyone since we expanded and reconfigured the grounds to better accommodate our guests. Join us for delicious food, delightful drinks and entertainment the entire family will enjoy.

7th Annual Mid-City Bayou Boogaloo Festival, May 18-20

It is with great pleasure and heartfelt gratitude that the MotherShip Foundation announces the 7th Annual Mid-City Bayou Boogaloo Festival that will be held May 18-20, 2012 on the banks of historic and beautiful Bayou St. John. Over the last six years, Bayou Boogaloo has experienced tremendous growth. 2011 was a milestone year for what has quickly become on the South Louisiana’s signature cultural celebrations. Last year as New Orleans celebrated the annual Festival over 25,000 locals and visitors reveled in music from three stages, dined on delicious food, sampled unique local culture and enjoyed the Boogaloo Art Market.

In 2011, the Mid-City Bayou Boogaloo continued its sustainability efforts with help from a handful of dedicated neighbors, the Faubourg St. John Neighborhood Association, LSU AG Center, and funded by a Coypu Foundation grant. Volunteers planted one thousand (1000) plugs of the marsh grass Spartina Alternaflora and twelve hundred (1200) irises along the bayou’s western bank that are expected to bloom next spring for the 7th Annual Bayou Boogaloo Festival. As always the Festival is a family-friendly event with a kid’s stage, along with games and activities for children. Attendees can partake in delicious food, spirits and libations, listen to great local music, and enjoy the very best art that New Orleans has to offer.

Wednesday at the Square, every Wednesday through June 6

Wednesday at the Square is a free, 12-week concert series with food and drink for sale to benefit the Young Leadership Council. Local artisans also sell their work in the Artist Village near the Camp Street entrance.
